What's New...
Over the winter, Birch Run Golf has been making lots of changes.
-
We are enlarging the ponds on hole #15 to create mounding throughout the back 9.
-
We've added 13 new tee boxes that will be ready mid-summer.
-
Throughout the course, we've added 200 trees with the majority of them on the back 9 to define the holes.
-
We're going to enlarge the green on hole #17, so we have taken the first steps to removing the railroad ties. The green should be completed by late fall of 2008.
-
We've added several sand traps to the back 9
We're excited that we'll be ready for you golfers this spring!
We would like to thank all of you who have purchased a 2009 membership. We hope that you know how important you are to our business.
We have made many improvements to the course, but there are still many more to be made. Our focus this year will be on the following. Tee boxes, removing trees along 7's fairway, landscaping several areas out on the course, putting in a blacktop cart path from the bridge at 1 to 1's tee box and from the back of 5's green to the bridge at 7. We would also like to extend some of the stone paths. In early spring we will over-seed all of the mounding on the back and around the pond. We also now have a fryer in the clubhouse, which will allow us to offer many new food items.
The Toledo District Golf Association has a handicapping system that we installed last year was very successful. To those of you who might not know what this system is it is a computerized system that will allow you to track all your rounds at all courses and give you a true handicap. You will also receive a card that will allow you to have a recognized handicap under all systems. This is open to all who would like to participate. The cost is $15.00 per person for the entire year.
Please stop into the clubhouse and check in before the start of your round. I would encourage and enjoy if anybody has any comments or concerns or would just like to make a helpful suggestion please do not hesitate to email me at birchruntom@woh.rr.com. Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you this golf season.
One last thought I would like to leave you with, we raised $1252 last year at the Birch Run Open. This money has been set aside for the Birch Run Scholarship Fund. Our goal is to give two $500 Scholarships every year to a member's child or a member's grandchild. We feel we need to have about $5000 set aside so that the fund with help will sustain itself. We will be raising money again this year hopefully we can reach our goal quickly. We will be looking for 3 to 5 people who can help award this Scholarship.
Thank you,
Birch Run Staff
